One of the great problems I have found in my relationships with the opposite sex is self image. Now granted there are women who are comfortable with their bodies, but that number is not very large. What usually happens is they can find something about their bodies that they don’t like, it could be their ears, eyes, hair, etc. The problems they have with them can be very small too, such as they think their ears point out just a bit too much, or their eyebrows are just a touch too bushy. The most common problem women have though is they feel they have weight issues.
Of the women I know and come in contact with, I would say 75-80% of them feel like they could either lose 10-15 pounds, or at least slim down a bit. Not one of these women feel like their bodies are in fine shape, and they don’t need to lose any weight at all. As a male, you could try and tell them they look beautiful, or that women are supposed to have more weight than men, or any number of positive things. This does not however change the mind set of the female mind.
What I have found about the power of self image is that it can be a hard thing to gain, and it is much more important to people than how others see them. Usually if one has a positive self image, then most of the time others can feel that positive attitude and they will in turn have a positive attitude to your self image. The bottom line is, know that you’re beautiful. God gave variety to the earth for a reason, and every single person makes this world beautiful.
